16 Carriages: A retrospective track full of sensitivity
In this song, Beyoncé expresses her struggles as a young teenager pursuing her dreams: the road, her parents conflicts, the tough conditions she was working… Rapidly, she switches this perspective to today’s where she still deals with fear and a feeling of abandoning her family.
The “16 Carriages” elude to the bus tours, and is also a metaphor of her many sacrifices to make her who she is today (“fifteen the innocence was gone away”). For the musical production, we can find a rhythm typical of spirituals, paying hommage to her cultural heritage. This is a touching track, with Beyoncé confessing to us her past traumas and showing us that after all . A true country masterpiece.
Texas Hold’Em: A little taste of the upcoming album
Texas Hold’Em is a more joyful track, transporting us into a country bar, making us dance. The musical production is pure country with the banjo, acoustic guitar, violin, piano as well as the particular rhythm of country interpreted by the percussions.
As for the vocal production, it is typical Beyoncé: full of harmonies, warm and powerful with a lot of playfulness. The lyrics are a combination of classic Beyoncé and traditional country ones, with its messaging of letting go by dancing and portraying two people falling in love.
A track to listen to when you want to party!
