The R&B song of the moment: A promising single
Coco Jones surprises us with a new single, Here We Go, a full R&B and Soul experience, fortifying her ground in the industry.
With sounds reminiscent of Alicia Key‘s younger days (If I Ain’t Got You) in a flawless production (made by Cardiak and WU10) and vocals, Coco Jones entertains us and make us travel through the early 2000s. Jone’s vocal abilities are put even more in the spotlight compared to her previous works (like ICU, 2023) with her rich tone and great vocal agility shining.
In this record, Coco Jones opens up about still having feeling towards her ex and how she wishes to move on, while he follows her and tries to sabotage her new relationship.
The lyrics are simple, yet convincing, and Jone’s vocal delivery put them into the light. Her tone in her low register and some rhythm patterns of the song can feel like it took some inspiration from Pick Up Your Feelings by Jazmine Sullivan (Heaux Tales, 2020).
We have the presence of one sample throughout the song, from Cause I Love by Lenny Williams: the bass line and strings, are the exact same but played at a higher pitch and at a faster tempo. The piano has a little similarity with Beyoncé‘s performance at Coachella with her song Countdown which samples Broccoli by D.R.A.M.
Overall, a great song to sing your heart out!
