A story of bitterness
Bodies, from the second studio album of the artist Keshi, Requiem, explores the world of disappointment in a relationship and love.
In this track, the singer talks with sarcasm about his lost hopes with the person he loved and the promesses made. Yet, he is still being hung up to his passed love, and adresses them: “to give your heart to someone, but they go and change their mind”, exploring the feelings of abandonment and bitterness.
Keshi battles with his heartbreak, and get lost in pessimism and disappointment as for him, it’s normalcy to be alone: “‘Cause I’m used to having no one, to lay here by my side”. But in this battle of feelings, he still wishes to find someone again, to fill this loneliness “everybody needs somebody”. This sentence can also be interpreted sarcastically: he feels bound to stay alone, and society’s words of “encouragement” for him to find someone feel hollow. Keshi’s vocal performance is great: he expresses his rage, sadness and hope with ease, making us connect to his narrative.
