Ben Lewis, Australian actor and singer, has passed away on October 6th, leaving behind him a beautiful and remarkable career.
Known for taking up the role of the Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s musicals Love Never Dies and in The Phantom of The Opera, Lewis was born into a musical family.
After entering the Australian Theatre for Young People (theatre company in New South Wales, Australia), he is accepted at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.

Throughout his career, Ben Lewis performed in many musicals, such as Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Marianne Elliott, Love Me Tender, Candide and The Bodyguard (along with Patti LuPone).
As a baritone, Lewis showed remarkable technique and emotionality, both at the service of the music and his characters. With his great range and stamina, he could easily switch from belting to runs, then to whispering, this can be easily witnessed in the recording of ‘Til I Hear You Sing (Love Never Dies, 2018). In his work as an actor, Lewis effortlessly blended vulnerability and strength, and always founding profoundness in his interpretations. Depending on his roles, he delivered gut-wrenching, humorous or light-hearted — always full of finesse and humanity.
