Evanscape, the first collaborative album by musicians Enrico Pieranunzi and Bebo Ferra, reveals an intimate and poignant musical project. Featuring original compositions by both artists, this opus pays homage to Bill Evans, legendary jazz pianist and composer.
A feel-good record embedded in nostalgia
Throughout the album, the listener is invited into a world of tenderness, reminiscence and subtle groove. The rhythmic and melodic patterns used throughout the opus showcase the musical sensitivity of both Pieranunzi and Ferra, along with their infectious chemistry. Here, it is the gentler side of jazz that is put on display, with beautiful tracks such as Song for Helen, Incanto and Very Early.

The impeccable technique and musicality of both musicians resonate in each track, offering a unique and rich sonic experience. The refined tone and phrasing as well as the intricacy in the harmonies, show Pieranunzi and Ferra‘s powerful artistry.
Throughout the project, the listener can hear Bill Evans‘ influence in both Pieranunzi and Ferra‘s performances, writing and improvisations. Evanscape takes a lot of inspiration from Undercurrent, an album recorded by Bill Evans and Jim Hall released in 1962. The softness, clarity and sensitivity found in Evan’s music are omnipresent in Pieranunzi and Ferra‘s performances.
Evanscape is a stunning album, presenting a heartfelt homage to Bill Evans, while offering a fresh take on soft jazz.
